Look after your pair

Care Guide

A pair from us should last you seasons, not weeks. Nairobi dust, matatu splashes and midday sun are all fixable — here is what actually works.

Smooth leather	Wipe off dust with a dry cloth before you put the pair away.	Cream polish on scuffs, buff with a horsehair brush.	Never dry leather next to a jiko or in direct sun — it cracks.
Suede & nubuck	Brush against the grain to lift dust.	Protector spray, especially before the rains.	Never wash suede with water or soap.
Canvas	Knock off dust, air the pair out.	Hand wash or a cold machine cycle in a laundry bag.	Never machine dry — the glue in the sole gives up.

The five-minute weekly routine

Brush first, polish second. Polishing over dust grinds grit into the leather.
Use shoe trees, or newspaper. They pull moisture out and hold the shape, which is what actually kills a pair — not the sole.
Rotate. Leather needs about a day to dry out fully. Two pairs alternated will outlast one pair worn daily by years.
Caught in the rain? Stuff with newspaper and dry at room temperature, away from any heat source. Polish once dry.

What we do before you get the pair

Every pair is checked by hand before it is packed: soles, stitching, glue lines, and the size stamped inside against the size you ordered. If something is not right we tell you before dispatch rather than after.
